RESIDENTIAL FURNITURE
Custom Residential Furniture — Denver, CO
Since 2007, Where Wood Meets Steel has been building custom residential furniture for homeowners, interior designers, and custom home builders across Colorado. Every piece is designed and built to order in our Denver shop — no catalogs, no stock sizes, no compromises on materials or craft.

We work closely with each client to understand their space, their style, and how they actually live in their home. The result is furniture that fits perfectly — dimensionally, aesthetically, and in character — and is built to last generations.

WHAT WE MAKE FOR YOUR HOME
Our residential work covers a wide range of pieces. Dining tables are our most requested — from live edge wood slab tops to carefully laid out hardwood lumber, solid hardwood with steel bases, extension tables for families that entertain. We also build kitchen countertops and islands, bathroom vanities, coffee tables, credenzas, media cabinets, shelving, barn doors, fireplace surrounds, and custom staircases.

If you're working with an architect or interior designer, we're experienced collaborating within a larger design vision. If you're coming to us directly, we can help develop the concept and find the right materials from our own inventory.
Our custom dining tables are built to the exact dimensions of your space and made from materials you choose. We work in walnut, elm, ash, oak, maple, and more — live edge, book-matched, slab, or lumber. Steel bases are fabricated in house and can range from minimal to exceptional.
Custom cabinetry, credenzas, media walls, wine storage, and shelving designed for your exact space and storage needs. We combine wood with steel details, custom hardware, and integrated lighting where needed.
Live edge countertops, waterfall islands, vanities, and bar tops that make a statement without overwhelming a space. We work with your kitchen or bath designer and can match slabs to existing cabinetry and finishes.
Barn doors, staircases, fireplace surrounds, range hoods, custom gates, and architectural steel details. These are the pieces that define the character of a home — and the ones most likely to be talked about for years.
Custom seating built to complement your table, your space, or stand on its own. We build dining benches, entryway benches and upholstered pieces, Seating that is designed to holds up to daily use and looks better over time.

LOCAL WOOD, LOCAL CRAFT

One thing that makes our residential furniture genuinely different: we source and mill much of our own wood. Many of our slabs come from trees removed in and around Denver — urban elms, ashes, oaks, and other species that would otherwise be chipped. We rescue them, mill and kiln-dry them on site at our shop in Globeville, and turn them into pieces that carry the story of where they came from.

If you want to see what's in the inventory — slabs, cookies, figured pieces, book matches — you're welcome to visit by appointment. There's nothing quite like choosing your own material in person.
