Elm Burl Slab Cabinet

This custom cabinet was designed and fabricated for a private client using doors made from a locally sourced elm burl slab that we milled and kiln-dried in Denver. The expressive burl grain creates a one-of-a-kind surface, making the cabinet both functional storage and a sculptural focal point within the space.
 
The cabinet body is crafted from solid ash and sits on a custom steel base, balancing the organic character of the burl with clean, modern lines. Material selection, proportions, and detailing were carefully considered to ensure durability while allowing the natural wood figure to take center stage.
 
We worked directly with the homeowner, who returned to commission this piece after a previous custom project, trusting us to guide material selection and design direction. This cabinet reflects our approach to working with clients who value distinctive wood slabs, thoughtful design, and custom craftsmanship built to last.
